This busy Raffles Place fixture brings a popular Tokyoite concept to town. As its name suggests, you order your sushi and eat it standing up, though if you swing by in the evenings, you'll find bar stools to sit on. The seafood is flown in fresh from Japan daily and the result is sushi and sashimi that can rival some of the more established names in town.
This Japanese dining concept by Standing Sushi Bar is geared towards the fast-paced environment of Shenton Way, where professional desire quality food at a snap of their fingers. Besides serving Japanese food, Standing Sushi Bar actually serves one of the largest sake selections in Singapore.
Standing Sushi Bar is a recently opened sushi joint which provides fresh and good quality sushi at affordable prices, as compared to Tatsuya and Nogawa. The head chef, Roy, is a very nice and knowledgable person who will recommend the daily specials that have just flown in that day, be it the hamachi belly or wild kanpachi.
They switch from standing during lunch hours to swinging out the chairs after 3pm to prepare for the dinner crowd, where they serve delicious a la carte dishes and the special omakase set dinner, where chef Roy prepares a full course of Japanese dishes not on the menu.
Standing Sushi Bar's high quality, fresh and affordable Japanese food has stood the test of time, the standard remaining consistent over repeat visits to the different outlets.
